AESF Launches #YourHomeYourArena Campaign In Light of Covid-19

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) has announced the launch of the Your Home, Your Arena (YHYA) campaign.

With the aim of connecting and uniting the Esports community through social media and online tournaments, YHYA serves an ultimate goal of providing assistance to the vulnerable communities who have been adversely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic through Esports activities, crowdfunding and fundraising drive.

The Origin of ‘Your Home, Your Arena’

The simple idea of being able to game regardless of location isn’t novel but nowadays, it is even more apparent that everyone retains a semblance of normalcy in trying times. The idea behind ‘Your Home, Your Arena’ is self-explanatory; where gamers convert their homes into their personal arena. This in turn encourages people to stay home, stay safe, and practice social distancing while enjoying as well as staying connected.

The core objectives of the YHYA campaign include;

To unite the Esports community by working together with member associations, publishers, Esports athletes and Esports fans;  To provide a source of entertainment to our community during this trying time in the comfort of their homes through Your Home, Your Arena Charity Cup; To promote the importance of helping the community in need and further extend our assistance to those communities.

Well aware of the many livelihoods affected as well as communities being financially hit due to subsequent effects of the steps taken to curb the spread of Covid-19, the AESF is doing what we can to help support and give back to the community.

In order to achieve the points above, two main activities will take place;

Your Home, Your Arena – Charity Cup – an invitational tournament involving two game titles – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and The King of Fighters. All matches will also be available on stream via YouTube. Your Home, Your Arena – Charity Fundraising – a fund set up to encourage the public to donate to help the affected community.

Details for the Your Home, Your Arena – Charity Cup are as follows:

Tournament Dates: starting from June 4 Game Titles: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and The King of Fighters Confirmed Participants from: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand & more to come.

As a show of support for the YHYA initiative, the AESF member associations (MAs) will be providing assistance in form of participants, localized promotions as well as networking activities. It is hoped that YHYA would contribute significantly to each MAs’ ongoing process of growing their respective Esports communities.

Addressing the Esports community in Asia in regards to the initiative, the AESF President, Mr Kenneth Fok said “At the AESF, we are very aware of this predicament thus the initiative in the form of the Your Home, Your Arena campaign. Through this initiative, we hope to harness the spirit of the Esports community for something which would benefit those beyond our immediate circle. No effort is too small and I welcome everyone to play an important part in this.”

“I would also like to thank again the athletes, our members, and publishers SNK and Moonton, for providing a platform and hands through games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and The King of Fighters to continue our efforts to support our wider community as members of society.” he added.

Through this platform, the AESF hopes to actively spread the message of the campaign as well as reach out to both Esports and non-Esports communities.
